Chapter 7, section 5: A history of Rio in births and deaths
Thanatos was happy to be with his mistress again. The raven bobbed along, grasping her shoulder with his death grip. They wandered the streets of a Rio dead and gone. He whispered in her ear, reminding her of all she missed since turning her back on her former life. Together, they explored the dead streets of Rios that no longer danced the samba, and learned secrets from its past.

Chapter 7, section 3: the rape of Persephone, v. Rio
As Persephone passed an alley, she saw shadows of youths hanging out in a gang. They smoked and drank, and one made a low whistle as she passed. When she was a few doors down, she realized that they had left the alley and were following her. She turned a corner and they followed. Casting her senses behind her without turning around, she saw that there were five of them, all adolescent males hardened by poverty and violence, and their intentions were clear: when they caught her, they would rape and kill her.
