When Emperor Constantine converted the Roman Empire to Christianity, whatever happened to the old gods? Did they fade away quietly into that good night, or… c’mon, can you see the Greco-Roman gods fading away without a fight?
They knew when the jig was up when the writ was dropped, but they didn’t just disappear. Or maybe that’s exactly what they did: disappear into the throngs of humankind, generation in generation out, continuing to play with people like kittens with balls of string, or cats with their food…
It would be sheer madness to follow the modern-day adventures of too many of the old gods at the same time, but that’s exactly what I’m trying to do.
Buckle up & enjoy the ride!
